Adaptive Computing

The Adaptive Computing group works on ubiquitous computing, user modeling and interaction with a view of making the life of ordinary people easier through easy-to-use digital services. Adaptation to environment and user input is at the core of effective services. The group works in a multidisciplinary environment in close collaboration with other research groups of HIIT and in national and international collaborative projects.

Group leaders are HIIT Vice Director, Docent Patrik Floréen and Senior Researcher Petteri Nurmi.

The Adaptive Computing group covered until 2010 also theoretical work on distributed algorithms, with applications to sensor networks. This work is now organised as part of the New Paradigms in Computing -group. We continue collaborating with Postdoctoral Researcher Jukka Suomela and others on these topics, especially through the project Local Distributed Algorithms (PAHA), Academy of Finland 1.1.2010-31.12.2012, so publications in the area are still included in our publication list.

Research Topics and Results

A powerpoint presentation of our current research is available here.

See our list of publications and other outcome. We arranged the Pervasive 2010 conference in Helsinki in May 2010.
