Collectivity: Supporting collective action and experiencing | Research track at UIx
We investigate how computing and media support group interactions beyond the individual. Focusing on the group-level means advancing the understanding of social computing detailed to the unit of analysis of groups.´The result is an understanding social cognition and experience and its mediation, phenomena around how members think about and experience sociality. Topics include
- Techniques, platforms, and formats for collective achievements.
- Common spaces. Making actions visible to selected others.
- Awareness cues. Real-time sensor information to support companionship, relatedness, expression, and coordination.
- Collocated and mediated interactions. .
Example: MapLens a mobile AR map provides commond ground in collocated interaction

| MapLens: using markerless tracking dynamic information is overlayed on a physical map (Morrison et al. 2009). |
MapLens was used in a pervasive game and compared to a fully digital solution. MapLens supports collaboration facilitating common ground and place making (Morrison et al. 2009) |
Example: CoMedia integrates in a mobile application awareness cues in collective media stories
