HIIT research is funded by

Tekes - Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation - is the main government financing and expert organisation for research and technological development in Finland. Tekes finances industrial R&D projects as well as projects in universities and research institutes. Tekes especially promotes innovative, risk-intensive projects.

Academy of Finland - Suomen Akatemia is the prime funding agency for basic research in Finland.

Sitra - the Finnish Innovation Fund - is an independent public fund which under the supervision of the Finnish Parliament promotes the welfare of Finnish society.

FP7, the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013. FP7 is also designed to respond to Europe's employment needs, competitiveness and quality of life.
