Funding [1]

HIIT research is funded by

  • Aalto University
  • University of Helsinki
  • Academy of Finland
  • Tekes
  • other foundations financing Finnish hi-tech research
  • European Union (EU)
  • private companies.

Academy of Finland - Suomen Akatemia [2] is the prime funding agency for basic research in Finland.

Tekes [3] - Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation - is the main government financing and expert organisation for research and technological development in Finland. Tekes finances industrial R&D projects as well as projects in universities and research institutes. Tekes especially promotes innovative, risk-intensive projects.

FP7, the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development [4], is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013. FP7 is also designed to respond to Europe's employment needs, competitiveness and quality of life.
