Present Activities

I am planning and working for several research projects in the area of user-driven services and empirical legal studies. I am especially concentrating on legal issues related to future mobile applications and services.

My present projects include OtaSizzle - Ubiquitous Social Media for Urban Communities.

Previously, I have participated in many research projects, like Wireless Festival Eureka/Celtic project, MobiLife EU (IST-511607) project, and MobileIPR.

I have given numerous lectures in various classes at Helsinki University of Technology, University of Helsinki, Lakimiesliiton koulutus, IIR Finland, etc.

I am an adjunct professor (docent) at Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), Information Systems Science.

I am also affiliated (of counsel) with Puiro Snellman Åkerlund Attorneys at Law. I founded Opplex, a law firm that specialized in business law and particularly in IT law. In 2004, Opplex was merged into Puiro Snellman Åkerlund.

Research Interests

My research interests include:

Legal Issues: especially those related to information technology, for example, intellectual property rights (IPR) in software and content; digital rights management (DRM); privacy and data protection.

Information Technology: human-centric mobile and ubicomp services, future scenarios, ICT for development, ethical issues affected by ICT.
