ALGO 2018 is organised in Helsinki on August 20-24. ALGO is an annual meeting combining the premier algorithmic conference European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA) and a number of other specialised conferences and workshops, all related to algorithms and their applications, making ALGO the major European event for researchers, students and practitioners in algorithms.
Professor Mihai Pop from the University of Maryland, for example, discusses the use of algorithms in microbiological research in his talk on algorithms in bioinformatics. “Millions of good and bad intestinal bacteria have a very complicated, and partly unknown, way of interacting with each other. We have focused particularly on studying the intestinal bacteria of children in developing countries, but our algorithmic tools can also be used in cancer research.”
