The Shaking up Tech event, showcasing careers and opportunities in technology, will take place again on 22 January 2026. It is aimed at young women and gender minorities who are considering their future study and career paths. The event is organised simultaneously on the campuses of Aalto University, Tampere University and the University of Oulu.

Registration for the event is now open, read more and apply!

This year’s keynote speaker is Johanna Naukkarinen, associate professor in the School of Energy Systems at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT. You can read more about her career in technology here.

At the event’s exhibition area, participants will have the chance to hear about the experiences of current technology students from different universities and get a glimpse of student life. Shaking up Tech also features a wide range of workshops, where university students and staff present various fields of technology and their latest developments. The workshops offer participants hands-on experiences of what it might be like to work in the sector.

By encouraging young people from diverse backgrounds to choose technology, Shaking up Tech seeks to influence the future of the field. Research shows that diverse groups bring a variety of perspectives to problem-solving and develop better solutions.
